Environmental & social action
In October 1997, JFE Chemical was one of the first companies in the industry to acquire ISO 14001 environmental management system certification. Now, both our Chiba Plant and Kurashiki Plant have acquired ISO 14001 certification as parts of JFE Steel’s ironworks, while our Kasaoka Plant is independently certified as ISO 14001-compliant coal-chemistry works.
Through ISO 14001 environmental activities, we strive incessantly to meet our environmental goal of “zero emissions.”
For the JFE Group, improving the global environmental is an important and integral challenge. It is our goal to help create a more prosperous society, by promoting business activites that are in harmony with the natural environment.
- (1)Reducing the environmental stress of all business activities
In addition to striving to reduce environmental stress, both now and in the future, we promote the development of innovative technology for reducing environmental stress.
- (2)Contributing with technology and products
We contribute to improving the environment by developing and supplying state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and environment-friendly products.
- (3)Contributing through resource-saving and energy-saving businesses

- (4)Promoting communication with the public
We contribute to creating more improved local environments by forming partnerships with citizens, government bodies, and companies, as a member of the community.
- (5)Promoting international cooperation
We contribute to environmental conservation initiatives on a global scale by actively promoting international cooperation, e.g., enviromental technology transfers.
