Special products
JFE Chemical manufactures tar products at three plants in Japan—the Chiba Plant at its East Japan Works, and the Kurashiki Plant and Kasaoka Plant at its West Japan Works.
As one of the largest coal chemical manufacturers in Japan by capacity, we manufacture a wide variety of products using streamlined production systems.
In addition, our two group companies in China’s Shandong province also boast world-leading production capabilities.

Chiba Plant, East Japan Works
Our Chiba Plant, which is located in an urbanized area but coexists harmoniously with neighboring commercial districts thanks to its high-level environmental performance, produces basic chemical products, battery materials, iron oxides, and other materials that contribute to a wide range of industrial fields. The plant features an outstanding phthalic anhydride facility that utilizes original JFE technology.
