Impregnating Pitch “QI-less pitch” remarkably improves the impregnating rate during calcinations for artificial graphite electrode manufacture. A reduced QI (<5%) impregnating pitch is also available for smoother heat resistant materials. Special Pitch Select the most suitable pitch from our product line with softening points ranging from 110 to 350°c and with various particle sizes. Prepared Tar (Dehydrated Tar) Prepared tar with reduced low boiling point compounds, such as phenol and naphthalene. Select from three different viscosities to suit your needs. Creosote Oil Creosote oil is produced by distillation of coal tar followed by adjustment of the boiling point. Our product is widely applied as an ingredient for carbon black, antirust/corrosive paint for steel plates and heat resistant bricks. 95% Naphthalene 95% Naphthalene is used to produce phthalic anhydride, surfactants and dye intermediates. As Japan’s largest supplier, JFE Chemical not only provides 95% naphthalene to the majority of domestic consumers but also produces phthalic anhydride, surfactants and refined naphthalene. We also export naphthalene by special ship, thus have become the world’s leading supplier. Refined Naphthalene Further processing of 95% naphthalene by hydrodesulfurization, adsorptive denitrogenation and crystallization produces highly purified naphthalene. Containing a minimum amount of impurities, our product is widely used as an ingredient for basic chemical compounds. Phthalic Anhydride Phthalic anhydride, which we produce from naphthalene through highly active catalysis in a fluidized bed system, is colorless and transparent, an indication of its high quality, and is used for plasticizer and a variety of other materials. BTX Products We produce highly purified BTX products (benzene, toluene, xylene) from crude light oil isolated from gases in our coke oven. Isolated raw materials are processed by hydrodesulfurization, denitrogenation and distillation. Ammonium Sulfate Ammonium is isolated from the coke oven gas, absorbed in sulfuric acid and crystallized to produce ammonium sulfate products. The particle size of our crystallized ammonium sulfate is well controlled; we supply the product nationwide for use as nitrogen fertilizers. Granulated ammonium sulfate is also available for your convenience. Liquid Ammonium We produce colorless, transparent liquid ammonium with >99.9% purity in our high pressure gas facility from ammonium isolated from the coke oven gas. Surfactants K & D Fine Chemical Corporation, one of the JFE Chemical group companies, supplies various surfactants such as water-reducing agent for concrete, surface activators for synthetic rubber and dispersion agents for dyes. Phenol, o-cresol, m-cresylic acid, and xylenols We produce high-quality phenol, o-cresol, m-cresylic acid, and xylenols through distillation and purification of coal tar. These products are used as base materials for phenol resin, fire retardants, semiconductor sealer, and insulated varnish.
